Bruce Nolan (Jim Carrey) feels that his life is pointless and, when he curses God after a particularly bad day at work, he suddenly finds himself face-to-face with the Supreme Being (Morgan Freeman). After trying to persuade Bruce that it isn't easy, God gives Bruce the chance to try the job himself and bestows all his Supreme powers to him for 7 days.
